Finally, the cherry.

Finally, the cherry.

People ask what this is, and to be honest, I'm still working it out. It's something I want to have fun with. A brand, a shop, a website... or something in between - either way, it's very much a work in progress.

People hear 'cherry' and think cherry-on-top. I hear 'cherry' and think - delicious.

When Summer lands, and the cherries arrive, I am very happy.

Say 'Finally, the cherry' out loud. The comma is a pause. It's a complete thought - with some relief, or permission built in.

I inherited my grandmother Del's 1947 Singer sewing machine. Del loved bubbles, a buffet, and told me never to go to bed on an argument. The machine sewed clothes for Del and my mum for many years. Sometimes matching outfits, sometimes a wedding dress.

Then, the machine sat unused for a long time. But in between naps with a newborn, I finally sat down at it, and rediscovered a love of sewing I'd had as a kid.

Finally, the cherry.

Everything else followed.

What this is, right now.

Not everything has arrived yet - some of it is still being made, thought about, planned. It'll arrive slowly, as it's ready and as I am too.

The connecting thread will be items that are layered, considered, and... delicious.

Stay, if you want.

One thing at a time.

There she is.

On she goes.

Finally, the cherry.
